Block Printing

🧿 POT aims to highlight Iranian Arts & MENA culture 🧿

Block Printing is a one-day workshop with Jasmine Djavahery at Little Pot in Jefferson Park.

Learn how to carve a linoleum block and print on fabric using inspiration from Persian iconography, specifically gilim rugs. After carving their designs, students will print the blocks onto the provided bandana fabric. Each participant will take home a printed bandana. Students may also bring their own piece of cotton fabric if there is additional time to print more.

This workshop is taught by Jasmine Djavahery, an artist of Iranian descent currently based in the Bay Area. She graduated from the UCSC with a focus in Critical Race/Ethnic Studies and Fine Art. Her mediums include printmaking and ceramics, and her work is greatly influence by Persian iconography and food.

This is NOT a pottery workshop. For ages 16+. All materials provided.

This workshop has bi-lingual English/Farsi access. Class will be taught in English, but Farsi translation will be available.

You do not need to know how to speak, read or write in Farsi to take this class. All are welcome!
