Little Black Fish [Linocut Prints & Teach-in]

Little Black Fish [Linocut Prints & Teach-in]

Join us in this one-day, 3 hour linocut printing workshop & teach-in with Mariam M. F. Tabatabaee centered on the Iranian children's book and political allegory, The Little Black Fish.

Written by Samad Behrangi, The Little Black Fish is about knowledge seeking, collective movements, and armed struggle. In the teach-in you'll learn Behrangi's history and hear the inspiring story of one little fish.

Mariam will then take you step-by-step through the linocut printmaking technique as you create your own print inspired by the book's illustrations. Linocut is a printmaking technique where an image is carved into linoleum, inked, and then pressed onto paper to create bold prints.

Mariam M. F. Tabatabaee is an Iranian-Filipina educator and multidisciplinary artist heavily influenced by her position between multiple identities, her cats, and the ways visual imagery and meanings are transmitted across time and culture.
